Calcium carbide

      Calcium carbide is produced industrially in an electric arc furnace from a mixture of lime and coke at approximately 2,200 °C (3,990 °F).It is a chemical compound with the chemical formula of CaC2.Its main use industrially is in the production of acetylene, calcium cyanamide, steelmaking, carbide lamps.

Production of acetylene

Calcium Carbide reacts with water and moisture to produce flammable acetylene gas and lime.
CaC2(s) + 2H2O(aq) → C2H2(g) + Ca(OH)2(aq)
This reaction was the basis of the industrial manufacture of acetylene, and is the major industrial use of calcium carbide.
 

Steelmaking

  • in the desulfurization of iron (pig iron, cast iron and steel)
  • as a fuel in steelmaking to extend the scrap ratio to liquid iron, depending on economics.
  • as a powerful deoxidizer at ladle treatment facilities

Calcium carbide is used as ripening agent for mangoes,
bananas, jackfruits, litchis and other fruits also. Packets
of calcium carbide powder are kept in the container of

A: Our calcium carbide factory is located in Inner Mongolia, which is near carbide raw material place.  It covers an area of 5000 aquare meters.With monthly production capacity of 6000 tons.

 

Q: How can you guarantee the quality

A: We will take a lot of sampling testing second time during carbide processing to ensure products with good gas yield. 

We often do air pressure testing to drums, ensure carbide drums seals tight and safety.

Different sizes stored separately to avoid size mixing.

We will take sampling test again before goods loading, ensures loaded goods with correct weight, sizes, gas yield and quantity.

Our carbide Production is based on Chinese National Standard: GB10665-2004.


Q: What is the gas yield?

A: Typically, the gas yield of the particle size 80-120mm, 50-80mm, 25-50mm  is 295L/KG.
